Cure Tevita

This is my attempt at spreading the word :)

On 'Febuary 18th, 2011, Tevita was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia (AA) a bone marrow failure disease where the bone marrow cannot produce enough blood cells to keep the body safe from infection, serious bleeding and can be fatal if not treated.'

Since he's gone thru chemotherapy, his family has been working hard at spreading the word and searching for a bone marrow transplant match for Tevita incase the chemo doesn't work.  They've held a number of drives in the Bay Area that have had pretty good turn outs of people willing to be a donor but so far a match has not been found.

Tevita's mother and her siblings are close friends of my bf Sefo.  Although I do not know Tevita's parents personally, my heart and prayers go out to them and I would like to take a few minutes out of my 'ever so busy life' to try and help save a life. And yes, best believe I am already on the registry. I have been since signing up for a baby girl from Sacramento that was searching for a match back in 2007. The bone marrow drives were a success and she was able to find a match & a cure.

 

This week they are having their first out of state bone marrow drive at the Samoan Cultural Festival in Utah. If you or know people who live in the area, please stop by the festival and visit Tevita's booth.

They will be hosting more bone marrow drives until a match is found for Tevita.  If you do not live in an area where there will be a drive, have no fear..you can donate ANYWHERE :)
